PowerHouse Data Centers, a leading real estate developer for next-generation hyperscale data centers and Provident Data Centers have announced the co-development of a hyperscale data center project with a 1.8GW switchyard planned on site.

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas, Feb. 25, 2025 -- PowerHouse Data Centers, a leading real estate developer for next-generation hyperscale data centers and a division of American Real Estate Partners (AREP), and Provident Data Centers, a community-driven data center developer and a division of leading Dallas-based real estate and investment firm Provident, have announced the co-development of a hyperscale data center project with a 1.8GW switchyard planned on site. The first 500MW tranche has already been approved through ERCOT. The 768-acre campus, located just outside of Grand Prairie in northern Ellis County, Texas, is the first project for the recently announced joint venture.

The new data center campus will be built strategically between Dallas and Fort Worth, in the core of the Metroplex. Encompassing 24 buildings planned across three phases, the project's first building is slated to be energized in May 2026. As a newly-rezoned site, the joint venture has secured all necessary approvals and permits, with design and engineering currently underway.

"Provident and PowerHouse are committed to creating lasting benefits to the communities where we build," said Provident Founder and CEO Leon Backes. "This campus will create significant economic opportunities in Texas while strengthening the state's position as a critical hub for digital infrastructure and next-generation computing.  We are committed to developing high-quality projects that meet the market's evolving needs, and this data center campus exemplifies that commitment."

"Our venture with Provident is emblematic of the speed to market we bring to bear for hyper scale users. Our partnership centers around a forward-thinking blend of resources, expertise, and ability to meet the most stringent hyper scales requirements in the fast pace world we live in", said Doug Fleit, Co-founder and CEO of PowerHouse Data Centers.

The Grand Prairie Campus project is PowerHouse's second data center in Texas after the previously announced PowerHouse Irving. Provident has partnered with PowerHouse Data Centers, contributing their extensive experience, resources, and networks to manage and oversee the Grand Prairie development together.
